High Speed 3-D Random Access imaging

Purpose:

To develop (or import the design of) a system that allows fast 3-D random access to spots in a specimen using multiphoton microscopy. This technology allows rapid access neurons located in different parts of the brain and achieve high temporal resolution imaging because no frame-by-frame scanning is required.

Several studies have achieve success in doing to by implementing acousto-optical deflectors. In some implementation, the AOD can be placed in the optical path outside of the scan head to make it easily adaptable onto different microscopes. One implementation (unpublished) is done in Institute of Neuroscience in Shanghai. I can help obtaining additional information.

I have placed several references in the U drive:  U:\cry\wiw\AOD_random access\references. A list of references is below.
